Let me introduce myself
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina with more than 30 years of counseling experience. My career has allowed me to work in a variety of settings including medication assisted treatment centers, hospital psychiatric units, counseling centers, and private practices. I am currently a behavioral health specialist in private practice and my work style is collaborative and compassionate. Focused efforts with my clients provide counseling and assistance in helping them achieve relief from stressors associated with a range of concerns. Life presents many challenges that may include substance abuse, Queer issues, anxiety, depression, adjustment to life issues and trauma. I encourage clients to improve their quality of life through the exploration and development of helpful life skills.
My counseling style is warm, supportive, compassionate and nonjudgmental. I view therapy as a collaborative effort between the therapist and client. I believe in treating people with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I have experience working with individuals from several different populations and communities. I am a client centered, strengths based, trauma informed counselor who works with individuals toward getting stronger, accepting responsibility to move forward, and psychological healing. I am trained in CBT, DBT, harm reduction and motivational interviewing. I work with clients to identify treatment issues, develop treatment plans, and create a strong follow through in the counseling process. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
